Santa Cops hosting 4th annual golf fundraiser

The Santa Cops for Kids is hosting its fourth annual golf tournament fundraiser called "Putting for Presents".

Money raised during the tournament directly supports the Santa Cops yearly shopping event. School Resource Officer with Maryville Public Safety, Ian Myers, says the tournament takes place Sunday, September 15th at Mozingo Lake Golf Course.

"It's a shot gun start at 10 o'clock in the morning.  Teams of four are going to be competing.  There's individual prizes, team prizes.  It's a great event.  We've had a lot of fun doing it.  It's a ton of work for such a small team, but we've had a lot of fun getting to know people and really basically getting the name 'Santa Cops' out there."

Myers says Santa Cops was founded in 2013 as a cooperative between local police and Highway Patrol.

"We conduct various fundraisers throughout the course of the year that allow us, as uniformed police officers, to take area kiddos in need Christmas shopping once the holiday season rolls around."
